 NDDC Appointment: APC UK Congratulates Lauretta Onochie

The United Kingdom chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated Lady Lauretta Onochie on her confirmation by the Senate as the Chairman of The Niger Delta Development Commission (NNDC).

According to the statement released by the chapter’s publicity secretary of the party, MrJacob Ogunseye and signed by J K Adebola the Interim Chairman and Chairman APC UK PCC, the chapter states that this appointment and confirmation which is well-deserved couldn’t have come at a better time and to a nicer person.

“As a strong Amazon and great Progressive, Lady Lauretta Onochie’s capability and capacity to deliver is never in doubt and if the fearlessness which she displayed in the discharge of her responsibilities in her previous and present roles in the Presidency is anything to go by, we believe she will justify the confidence reposed in her by President Mohammadu Buhari for bestowing on her this great assignment by bringing to bear on the new role her expertise to better the fortunes of NNDC and make us Diasporas proud with sterling achievements at NNDC”.

The statement noted that Lauretta Onochie will be going into NNDC with her wealth of experience as a consummate professional and a Diasporan who has proved her mettle and discharged her duties excellently at home and abroad.

“Niger Delta is in for a new era that will usher in real development in the entire area under the leadership of Lauretta Onochie and calls for the cooperation of all Niger Deltans with the new Chairman to ensure she succeeds in the new role for the betterment of all”

“On behalf of APC UK Chapter, we say congratulations and pray that she excels as always in the new position”, the statement concluded.

These commissions, each with its own executive leadership, board members, and administrative structures, further expand the already bloated public workforce that the report seeks to curtail. Instead of consolidating existing agencies and eliminating redundancies, creating these commissions increases bureaucratic overhead, leading to additional financial burdens on the government.Furthermore, establishing multiple development commissions encourages duplication of functions and inefficiencies rather than ensuring targeted regional development. The resources allocated to these commissions could be better utilised by strengthening existing institutions and improving inter-agency coordination.
